Terms of Service
These terms govern your access to and use of Tooley. Tooley is operated by Kelcode Development. Like our privacy and security pages, these terms are written in plain English to make expectations clear: how the tools operate, what you can expect from us, what we expect from you, and how we each stand if something goes wrong. Last updated 2026-10-20.
How tools operate
Tooley provides focused utilities for everyday file transformations. All processing currently runs on our servers under one execution model:
- Server-isolated processing
- Your file is uploaded over an encrypted connection, checked, and processed inside a disposable, isolated container with no network access, strict compute ceilings, and dropped system privileges. As soon as the processor generates the output artefact, your original uploaded file is deleted and the processor runtime is destroyed. The generated output artefact is held in temporary storage with a signed download link for a short window (about ten minutes for most tools) before being permanently deleted by our cleanup cycle.
If we ever add tools that run entirely in your browser, without uploading your file, we will describe them, and how they change these terms, before you can use them.
Acceptable use
Tooley is provided for lawful personal and commercial utility. By using the platform, you agree not to misuse it. Specifically, you must not:
- upload files that contain malware, viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, or exploits designed to target parsers or compromise the isolation that protects the service;
- attempt to probe, scan, breach, or compromise our infrastructure or internal networks;
- bypass or attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or file size caps, including with automated scripts or botnets; automated use that respects those limits is not a bypass;
- submit files that you do not have the lawful authority, licence, or permission to process, including unlawfully obtained material or material that infringes someone's intellectual property.
If you want to research the security of the service, we would rather hear about it first: see the responsible-disclosure policy.
Your files and intellectual property
Your files stay yours:
- We claim no intellectual property rights, copyright, or ownership over any file you upload or any output artefact produced by our tools.
- You must have the right to process whatever you upload: that may be because you own it, or because you have permission from whoever does.
- You grant Tooley only the limited, temporary permission needed to receive and process your uploaded file, and to stage the resulting output artefact so you can download it. Permission over your uploaded source file ends as soon as the job finishes and the upload is deleted; permission over the generated output artefact ends when the retention window expires and the artefact is swept from storage.
- All platform code, design, logos, brand elements, and tool implementations remain the property of Kelcode Development.
File storage and recovery
Tooley is an on-the-fly transformation service, not a file host, archive, or backup provider. Uploaded source files live on the service only for the duration of the job itself and are deleted as soon as processing completes; generated output artefacts live only for the short download window (about ten minutes) before being deleted. We have no facility for recovering an uploaded file or an expired output artefact, so keep your own originals: if you need a file again after its window closes, the only copy that remains is yours.
Service quality and availability
Tooley is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, this means:
- Processing is deterministic but carried out on a best-effort basis. Highly complex layouts, corrupted source files, non-standard specifications, or edge cases may produce unexpected output, formatting shifts, or parsing rejections.
- We do not guarantee that the service will be continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free, nor that any specific tool will be fit for your particular purpose.
- We reserve the right to modify tool behaviour, adjust size caps or retention windows, or withdraw tools, in order to keep the service healthy and secure.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits your statutory rights, including rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if you deal with us as a consumer.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Kelcode Development is not liable for any loss or corruption of data, nor for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss (such as lost profits, loss of business, or business interruption) arising from your use of, or inability to use, Tooley. Because uploaded source files are deleted immediately after processing and output artefacts are held only briefly, you must keep local backups of your original files and treat Tooley as a step in your workflow rather than the safety net for it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from your use of Tooley, are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and nothing in these terms deprives you of any mandatory protection you have under the law that applies to you.
