Profile a CSV

Profile a delimited file: per-column types with ranges, blanks, distinct and duplicate counts, in a readable report plus a machine-readable JSON.

Upload

Files (1–1)
One delimited text file (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe), up to 10 MB. The file is only read, never modified.

Options

Analysis depth (rows) 1000–200000 How many data rows to profile. Larger is slower and more exact; rows beyond the cap are counted and the report marks the file as truncated.
Questions people ask
What is in the profile?
Per column: a name from the header, a type verdict (integer, number, ISO date or text) with the range that backs it, blank and non-blank counts, a distinct count, and an all-same flag for constant columns. File-wide: the sniffed delimiter, data row totals, blank rows, ragged-width rows and duplicate row counts. You get a readable report and the same numbers as JSON.
How much of my file is actually read?
The analysis depth you set (default 50,000 data rows), and at most 512 columns. Rows beyond the cap are still counted, and the report states the file was longer. Distinct counts cap at ten thousand per column and then report "10000+".
How does the type verdict work?
The first thousand non-blank values per column are classified as integer, number or ISO date; only when every sampled value agrees does the column get that type, and anything mixed is reported as text. It is a heuristic aid, not a contract, and the report says so directly.
Will my data appear in the report?
Not unless you choose it. The default report has statistics only, which is deliberate: cell values can carry personal data, and a report without them is safe to paste into a ticket. The opt-in adds the first two distinct values per column, 40 characters at most, and the report marks that the samples were your choice.
What happens to my files?
The upload is removed as soon as processing finishes; the two output files stay downloadable for about 10 minutes, then they are deleted automatically. The file is only read, never modified, and nothing executes.
