Questions people ask
- What happens to transparency when the target is JPEG?
- JPEG cannot carry an alpha channel, so a transparent image is flattened onto the colour you choose (white by default, black as the explicit alternative). Nothing is decided silently; PNG and WebP keep their alpha channel as-is.
- Does the converted file carry my camera's metadata?
- No. The image is re-encoded from decoded pixels, so EXIF (make, model, GPS, timestamps), ICC profiles and XMP do not travel into the new file. A non-identity EXIF orientation is applied first, so the output stands upright without a rotation tag.
- Is quality used for PNG?
- No: PNG is lossless, so the quality setting does not apply. It exists for JPEG and WebP only.
- How do I know the output is really what it claims?
- The processor re-decodes its own output and checks the container's format and dimensions before reporting success; a mismatch fails the job instead of naming an unverified file.
