Questions people ask
What exactly gets removed?
The metadata embedded in the image: EXIF (camera make and model, serial, dates, and the GPS location block where present), the ICC colour profile and, for PNG, the text chunks such as author and description. The image is re-encoded without these, so they do not come back.
Is my photo changed?
Not visibly. It stays the same dimensions, the same format, and the same colours. JPEG is re-encoded at a high fixed quality; PNG and lossless WebP stay lossless. A tiny size difference is normal and is reported as "was" vs "now".
What if my photo is rotated?
Many phone photos store an orientation flag rather than turning the pixels. When that flag is present this tool applies it to the pixels and then removes the flag, so the cleaned image is upright and the orientation tag no longer leaks.
Will it strip everything, or just some of it?
It strips the metadata classes the supported formats carry (EXIF, ICC, colour profile, and PNG text chunks). It is a removal through Pillow's decoder; it does not claim to erase byte-strings it cannot read. The output carries no Tooley marker either.
What happens to my files?
The upload is removed as soon as the job ends; your cleaned image is available for about 10 minutes, then it is automatically deleted.
