Questions people ask
What happens when I give width AND height?
The output is exactly that box: both numbers are honoured verbatim and the aspect may change. Give only ONE of them and the other follows the aspect ratio. This is documented and unambiguous by design.
Is my photo rotated before or after resizing?
Before. A non-identity EXIF orientation is applied to the pixels first, so width and height are measured in display space (what you see in the viewer), and the upright output carries no orientation tag at all.
Can I enlarge an image?
Only by ticking allow upscaling. Enlargement is refused by default (the tool names the shortfall in pixels); upscaling a small image is a decision, not a side effect.
What about transparency and metadata?
Transparency is preserved: PNG and WebP keep their alpha channel. JPEG has no alpha, so a transparent source is flattened onto white. The output is re-encoded from decoded pixels: EXIF (make/model/GPS), ICC profiles and XMP do not travel to the resized file.
