Questions people ask
- Will the output really be under the size I set?
- Yes. The tool's guarantee is a ceiling: the output is always <= the target you asked for. If no encoding can meet it while keeping at least 256 pixels on the short edge, the tool tells you it is not reachable instead of shipping an over-size file.
- What is "auto" format?
- The processor picks WebP when your image has an alpha channel (so transparency survives) and plain JPEG otherwise. You can force JPEG, WebP or PNG instead.
- What formats are accepted?
- A single image, up to 10 MB: JPEG, PNG or WebP. The file's own bytes are checked, not the name the browser sends.
- Will it remove my photo's metadata?
- Yes: EXIF (including camera model and location fields) and any colour profile embedded in the upload is stripped before encoding.
- Where is my image processed?
- On Tooley's own servers, in an isolated container with no network access. Nothing is sent to a third party or an AI model. If the target bytes is 1 KiB or less the tool reports that the target cannot be served rather than guessing.
- What happens to files?
- The upload is removed as soon as the job ends; your compressed image is available for about 10 minutes, then it is automatically deleted.
